Version 10.2 Release Notes and Upgrade Instructions
Firmware and Toolbox version 10.2 focus on evolving features and functionality introduced with XC3 & XD3 and version 10.1.
If an upgrade of your hardware is required and you are unsure how to handle this process, please contact your local DHD distributor – see List of DHD distributors.
New Features

- Introduction of
License Serialinstead ofMicro SD SerialorSSD Serialfor licensing:License Serialis shown in the System App- On 52-7500 XS3 Cores the
License Serialwill be theWnnnnnnnnnnumber - On 52-752x XC3 Cores the
License Serialwill always be the serial of the factory installed MicroSD card → theCnnnnnnnnnnumber - On 52-755x XD3 Cores the
License Serialwill always be the serial of the factory installed SSD storage → theDnnnnnnnnnnumber
- With introduction of the
License Serial, licenses are always stored inside the DHD Core hardware - In the case of a defect of the MicroSD or SSD card, it can be easily replaced, without the need of re-licensing and re-bundling the replacement card
- New XC3/XD3/XS3 Cores that are planned to be spare parts should be pre-licensed adequately, as swapping SD/SSD cards will no longer help from the license perspective starting with V10.2
- Aux Sends on Fader
- Switchable MADI SRC available on:
- XS3 Core: MADI Port
- XC3 Core: GA 1
- XD3 Core: GA 1 / GA 9 / GA 13 / GA 17 / GA 21 (not available on GA 5)
- Improved AGC/Loudness AGC Freeze:
- (L)AGC Autofreeze feature
Freeze (L)AGC when Fader Start OFFnow also depends on the Automix (if used). This prevents unwanted (L)AGC regulation while the channel is not used or spoken to. - (L)AGC Freeze key function now supports a 3rd color to indicate that
autofreezeis active.
- (L)AGC Autofreeze feature
Firmware
- Overhauled internal procedures in Logic and Audio System
Toolbox
- SX2 Wizard available for 52-7500 XS3 Cores
Security Features & Web Apps
- Devices with Version 10.2 installed now automatically generate a self-signed certificate for encrypted web communication.
- The following pre-conditions must be met to use the self-signed certificate:
- No individual certificate may be installed
- Valid NTP time server must be set up and system time must be synced
- HTTPS communication must be enabled in the System App
Servicesmenu
The use of self-signed certificates requires the user to initially accept a browser’s security warning and/or to add an exception rule.
AES67 & Dante Modules
No version 10.2 update available yet for 52-7567 AES67 or 52-7580/7585/7080B Dante modules.
These modules can still be operated with their firmware/kernel version 10.0 or 10.1 without problems — even if the DHD Core is running on Version 10.2.
Upgrade Instructions – Kernel & Firmware
Before upgrading to Version 10.2 ensure that the Core is updated to the latest Firmware 10.1 – minimum FW 10.1.14.
The XD3 update (Kernel & Firmware) takes approximately 2–3 minutes to finish.
Do not switch off or restart the device during the update.
The upgrade and further updates are now rolled out within a single DeviceOS update package file.
This file can be applied like any other update file as known from before. The main difference is that all necessary software updates are now applied in one single step.
File extensions:
.xc3p– DeviceOS for XC3 Cores.xd3p– DeviceOS for XD3 Cores
Upgrade Instructions – Toolbox Project
As no major changes are introduced in Toolbox version 10.2, upgrading from version 10.1 to 10.2 should work by opening the existing project file within Toolbox 10.2 and checking if any messages are issued.
For a seamless transition, we recommend planning with enough spare time to convert your Toolbox project.
First of all, you need to have your Toolbox working at the latest Toolbox v10.1.x.
If this condition is fulfilled, open your .dp10 project file with Toolbox v10.2.x.
We strongly recommend keeping a copy of the original v10.1.x (.dp10) project file.
You may receive some WARNING messages in the Messages Section.
Those messages inform you if your Toolbox project is using no longer supported hardware, if other problems occurred, or if adjustments were made during conversion of the project.
Double-clicking the message leads you to the hardware module or configuration part affected.
